"Creation science" was first invented in an attempt to circumvent the interdiction against the indoctrination in religion, or the teaching of religion as science, in American schools, based on the constitutional separation principle. Many people had emigrated from Europe in order to escape sectarian religious persecution, and they did not want any chance of any one particular narrow sect to gain control, and repeat European history in the new America.
"Creation science" was basically dishonest. It wasn't about teaching actual science, but about dressing creationism up in science-y language in an attempt to make it acceptable as science to be taught in schools. "Cargo-cult" science.It was dishonest, because the adherents of creationism have no respect for the principles and methods of real science. As soon as those principles and methods lead to contradictions to creationism, all pretence of following a scientific method were rejected. This is made abundantly clear in the "statements of faith" that commercial creationist organisations require their members to sign, swearing that even in principle, no evidence can possibly change their position. Creation "science" is thus a cynical exercise in attempting to exploit innocence, ignorance and gullibility.
