Conway's Game of Life

https://barryhisblog.blogspot.com/p/conways-game-of-life.html

The Game of Life, also known simply as Life, is a cellular automaton devised by the British mathematician John Horton Conway in 1970.  Its evolution is determined by its initial state, requiring no further input.

The "birth" and "death" of every cell follows extremely simple, basic rules. No cells or structures of cells "move" although they may appear to move.

For those who are mystified by emergent phenomena, sources of information and the generation of complexity, here is a simple example that you may find counter-intuitive, but is nevertheless real. For those who sneer at "materialism", material reality is far more complex and subtle than Conway's game of "Life".
